About CBC

They say you are a product of your environment and that couldn’t be more true than for Cloward Building Concepts owner/contractor, Matt Cloward!

As a young boy, growing up on the west coast, he lived through five whole house renovations and one new construction home.  His mother was an antique dealer, artist, and interior designer.  His father was an engineer, artist, and craftsman.  Matt’s passion for construction grew from his parents’ ever creative, thirst for building and creating.

In 1995, the Cloward family moved from California to Perry County. They started a business and continued their love of re-modeling.   Central Pennsylvania has no shortage of old farm houses and it wasn’t long before the Clowards had found the perfect home to renovate and update, while maintaining the old charm of a vintage farmhouse.  Featured twice in Country Living, the project laid the ground work for Cloward Building Concepts.

Matt Cloward has lived and worked in Carlisle, PA for over a decade. A graduate of Millersville University, Matt holds a bachelor of science degree in Business administration.   However, his passion is in construction and restoration. September following his graduation, Matt began his construction career as an assistant builder.  Three months later he was promoted to builder and put in charge of his first development.  Matt flourished as builder. His skills from earlier work in the management training programs at both Circuit City and UPS, coupled with his education from Millersville, made him a master at scheduling and budgeting.  After, three years and building several hundred homes for his employer, he took a leap for himself.  He bought a bank owned home, quit his job and picked up a hammer. It took him three months to completely renovate his very first home, but it was the start. The excitement of the project inspired Matt to start Cloward Building Concepts.  Hard work and dedication slowly, but steadily filled his calendar, as well as his Dads.

Success is evident as this family owned and operated business has been rooted in this community for nearly a decade. Nine years later Matt is still working with his dad, in addition to the great team of carpenters and sub-contractors that make up Cloward Building Concepts

Matt and his wife, a local realtor, live in a 220 year old stone house (Yes, that they are renovating) that they share with several pets.  They enjoy working and living in Carlisle and are both active members of this Central Pennsylvania community.
